PUMA, the world’s leading sports brand, today unveiled the Manchester City FC home shirt for the 2022-23 season. The new jersey is inspired by the legendary team that won four top tournaments in a row from 1967 to 1971 and the team’s leader at the time, Colin Bell, and is a tribute to that great era and the stars who portrayed it.
Between 1967 and 1971, no other team displayed a style of play and swagger comparable to that of Manchester City. The flowing passing and running, and the attacking style of soccer with all-round pressure made Manchester City ahead of the times.During this period, City won the 1967-68 English Premier League, the 1968-69 FA Cup, and the 1969-70 European Cup Winners’ Cup and English League Cup.For half a century, these glory days have inspired every generation of Manchester City players to push the boundaries of domestic and European competition.
The new 2022-23 Manchester City home shirt recreates the club’s classic shirt design from the days of Colin Bale, paying tribute to one of City’s greatest icons and a legendary team. The overall color of the jersey is still sky blue, with the club’s logo placed in the middle of the front chest, the collar and cuffs are decorated with the signature burgundy stripes, and the “The King” crown logo on the inside of the collar is a tribute to the “King of Colin”.
